Disability Services

Cyfal Disability Services was founded in 2007 by Gwenllian and Nia Williams. Although new in the market place, Cyfal provides an invaluable service.

Cyfal covers the whole of Wales and England.

Cyfal specialises in producing access reports detailing methods of making premises or services more 'disabled friendly'. Both partners have a combined experience of 60 years in disability.

Gwenllian Williams is an experienced access auditor with a long personal history in disability; this means that she can recommend essential adjustments from personal experience as well as from professional expertise.

Gwenllian Williams is responsible for the training that Cyfal provides. Gwenllian had experience of being wheelchair bound after an unsuccessful hip replacement. Nia Williams is responsible for the day to day administration of Cyfal Disability Services.

How Cyfal Disability Services began

In August 2007, Gwenllian fell in a supposedly accessible shower whilst staying at a London hotel and damaged her shoulder.

This was an incident which could easily have been avoided; she realised, and began to observe that there were countless other business premises which were also poorly equipped for disabled customers.

Helping business open their doors to a wider audience

By looking closely at all the public places she visited after that, she decided that she could assist people in making their business or public place more accessible to their customers.

Experience

Gwenllian is a nursing graduate with a post graduate certificate in orthopædic nursing. This means that she has experienced disabilities not only on a personal level but on a professional level too.
She also has a diploma in counselling which has given her an insight as to how to effectively teach people to examine personal attitudes.
